How to clean a patient treatment room

Wear appropriate  PPE for Cleaning:

o   Put on gloves, a mask, protective eyewear, and a gown to protect yourself from potential exposure. 

Prepare the Treatment Room for Cleaning

o   Place Cleaning in Progress signs in each entrance of the room

o   Prepare all cleaning cloths, mops and other equipment for Cleaning

o   Empty  rubbish from bins

Clean and Disinfect:

Surfaces:

  1. Clean all flat surfaces, including tables, countertops, and patient treatment beds, using approved cleaning solution 

  2. Rinse thoroughly with clean water to remove soap residue. 

  3. Disinfect with a suitable disinfectant solution, ensuring it remains on the surface( patient beds, equipmen) for the recommended contact time usually 5-10 mintes

Floors:

  1. Sweep all hard floors using a fringe mop

  2. Wet Mop using a flat mop for a thorough finish with approved cleaning solution

Dispose of Waste:

  1. Dispose of the waste collected from the treatment room according  to the the facility's protocols. 

  2. After cleaning each patient room , the Cleaning operator has to dispose the gloves and wash their hands properly before moving on to the next room
